INSIDE PASSAGE FERRY

Our inside passage cruise from Prince Rupert to Skagway will take two days with stops at several ports along the way and the added bonus of seeing some really spectacular scenery.  We travel with the locals by passenger /vehicle ferry. Accommodation is in two berth cabins with facilities. The ship has a  self service cafeteria serving Alaskan seafood and other dishes.

KLONDIKE LOOP & TOP OF THE WORLD HIGHWAY

We travel through part of the Yukon know as the Klonidike Loop to Dawson City and join the Top of The World Highway through Chicken and on to the Taylor Highway which takes us to Tok, Alaska. Much of this area is remote wilderness with spectacular scenery and frequent wildlife sightings such as Caribou herds.

DAWSON CITY

At Dawson City a group visit to Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall will be arranged. This relic of the gold rush days features regular nightly can-can shows and serves great food.  Gertie’s is run by KVA a local not for profit organisation. It is on this section we travel the Top of the World Highway between Dawson City and Chicken.  Access across the river to the start of the highway is by vehicle ferry. No bridges in this remote area.

CHICKEN

Chicken is a popular stop on the Taylor Highway. That may have something to do with the fact it is one of the few places you can buy fuel on this road. We tour the Pedro Gold Dredge No4 and you can take a town tour which includes “ Trisha’s School House’ as featured in the book by Ann Purdy. Later you can spend some time at the Chicken Creek Saloon the best bar in town, in fact the only bar in town.

FAIRBANKS

Alaska’s 2nd largest city has a diverse range of shops and galleries selling native art, pottery and jewellery. For many a visit to North Pole and Santa’s village will be at the top of the list during our three night stay. Your tour leaders will organise an included  group three hour trip on the Riverboat Discovery. During the trip we will visit an Indian Village, Sled  Dog Centre and watch a float plane take off.

DENALI  NATIONAL PARK

The group will dry camp for 2 days in the National Park. The park is located 250 miles south of the Arctic Circle. The park extends to 6 million acres and travel in the park is restricted beyond the Savage River, requiring use of the park transportation system. We have included a full day guided coach tour with a light lunch provided. This is a spectacular journey and normally bears, moose and other wildlife can be viewed from the coach.

ANCHORAGE

With a population of 285,000, Anchorage is the largest city is the State of Alaska. The city has some 200 parks and 120 miles of trails, moose and other wildlife sightings are quite common, bike rentals are available. The Alaskan Native Heritage Centre is well worth a visit and historical tours of the city are available.
